Golfing, Breast Cancer, and my Dog. Lots to talk about!!

Even with our schedules being as busy as they have been, my husband and I have been wanting to go golfing for a long time.  My husband has played golf before, but I never have.  Of course I have done miniature golf, but I have never done the real thing.  Everyone tells me it’s hard, and I probably won’t like it.  But how am I supposed to know if I like it or not, unless I try it.  I know we have a golf course about 15 miles from here but it is a private, must be a member type of golf course.  I know that if I like it I would like to be able to golf when we travel so I need to find a website that has courses listed.  That way I can find one local, and also find ones when we travel.  So, I’m off to do my looking around.  I’m sure there has to be a website out there that has a lot of courses listed.  If anyone knows of a website, please let me know.  It would make my job a lot easier.

I almost forgot.  I wrote a post a couple days ago talking about my mother-in-law having breast cancer.  I found a website called http://www.ebreastaug.com and I told her she should visit it.  I now have an update.  She called me and said she did visit the website and she said she found useful information.  She said thank you.  I love hearing from her, and now that I know what I found did help her I feel better.  I spent a lot of time on the internet that day.  Have you ever done research for someone, even though they didn’t ask you to do so, and found information that you thought they could use.  I can tell you one thing, it’s a good feeling when they thank you for doing that.  I’m very happy that I was able to help!!

Onto another topic.  I took my dog into the vet today for his shots and a check up.  The vet said he is overweight and that we needed to help him loose some pounds.  The vet put him on a medication called Slentrol.  Has anyone heard of this medication before?  I would like to hear about any personal experiences.  I hope this stuff works!!

  5. i hope you like golf. i love it. its important not to get upset if you’re not great at it; just enjoy the time you’re outdoors and with your friends or husband.

and don’t try to swing too hard!

  6. I too hope you like golfing!! I love to golf, even though I’m not very good at it. But if you like it and it makes you happy then do it. That’s what I always say. You asked if anyone knew of any websites to look up Golf Courses. Try http://www.publiccourses.com. You can look at it where ever you are, even when you travel, and it will let you know if there are any courses nearby. I use it when my family travels.
So again, I hope you enjoy golfing, and hopefully you are better at it than I am. Some people just have a natural talent for it. Just wondering, are you good at miniature golf??

  7. goodbear.. Thanks for the advice. I wont try and swing too hard! I always thought you were suposed to swing as hard as you can. I have to wait to heal from my surgeries, but i’m excited to try… I believe that doing something you enjoy is the best physical therapy. So, I hope I enjoy golfing..
